My Thought Spot 16: Hmm, No Title

This one is a bit shorter. I did not have anything to really rant about.

Edit: Out of a need to fulfill a posting requirement to get paid for my previous “sponsored post” I have to add at least one sentence to this post. While I understand that they have posting requirements of “quality” posts before and after the paid content, it seems that if I simply add a period to the end of any of the above entries, then I would fulfill the requirement. But, since I am just spiteful enough to make an issue of it, I am typing a few sentences to say that sometimes PayPerPost irritates me. So now PayPerPost gets some negative content written about them when any trained monkey could have seen that this was a quality post to begin with. I have more to say about them in the future, but I am going to milk them for all I can before I start blasting them.

Missionary Talks 33: Chris Miller

This was an enjoyable interview. Chris and I worked together in a ministry for several years and we have remained good friends though distance has kept us from seeing each other for most of a decade.

The audio quality on this interview is much better than any other phone interview I have done. My setup is the same as it was for the interview with Erin Rigsby the week before. The difference was that she was on a cell phone and it apparently has a compressor built into the phone or the cell network. There was no variety in the volume of her voice, the compressor amplified everything as loud as possible. It made the file a bit more difficult to work with.

I had some electronic noise in this latest interview with Chris but I was able to pull most of it out. I am very pleased with the sound quality this time around.

Missionary Talks 32: Erin Rigsby

I just posted a new interview at Missionary Talks. I am very excited to finally get this interview. I was contacted by a listener who recommended I talk with Erin. I really enjoyed the time on the phone with her yesterday and feel like she connected with the intended audience well.

The summer was supposed to have gotten me several “in person” interviews and I was not planning to have any kind of break. Unfortunately I missed several weeks of not being able to get a show out. I have a few missionaries lined up right now to get the ball rolling again. I may not have one a week, but the shows should be much more regular for a while.

The quality of the phone interview was much better this time around. I think I am finally getting my system working better. Of course, with the installation of our new electrical boxes, I have had the side benefit of eliminating a lot of electrical feedback in my recordings.

Why to exercise

This morning as I was running my 1 mile speed workout, I was listening to an interview from Endurance Planet. This is one of my favorite podcasts and is the one that inspired me with the format for Missionary Talks. Though the podcast has changed hosts and formats a bit from those days.

The interviewee was talking about the question that people have on why does he exercise and run, especially when he could enjoy life so much better if he did not spend all his free time working hard. His answer was to the tune that because he is running and exercising, he is enjoying life. That is what he does for fun. Sure it is work, but that does not mean it cannot be fun.

I can’t imagine that people who are not able to bend over and tie their shoe are having more fun than I am. Or those who get winded getting in and out of a car are enjoying a better quality of life than I am. I no longer experience heart burn on a regular basis. I have strength to do what I want to do. I went and played soccer last week with a bunch of teenagers, and while they were much more skilled in the handling of the ball, I was able to keep up with them in the speed and endurance.

Yes, I too am having much more fun as someone who is taking care of the body God gave him. Come join us. You might find that being able to tie your shoe without props is much more fun than dying 20 years sooner than you need to.

My Thought Spot 12: Weady to Go Wunning

We are back home from our big summer trip. It was just a couple day short of 3 weeks long. We had a good time. Much of this episode is a recap of our trip down from the border. Then there are other various stories of what went on since the last MTS episode.
