A fun audio clip: mate

In one of my recent Missionary Talks episodes we spoke with Elisabeth Carney. She mentioned that when she was a young girl growing up in Argentina, she would go to her friend’s house and drink a tea called mate (pronounced with a ma-tey with a short a sound). Here is a mash up of my show with an episode of Phedippidations where Adam Tinkoff (of Burning 20) was talking about mate. Enjoy the clip.

Endurance Planet. SOLD!

I mentioned before that Tim at Endurance Planet wanted to sell his show. I heard last week that he did so. The details of the sale have not been released, but he said it was (paraphrase) “for no small amount.”

Jason mentions today some interesting thoughts about the sale of a podcast. Here is an excerpt. Be sure to check out his site to get the full details.

There are several things that give an established podcast worth. Here are the assets that you might have that have interest to a prospective buyer.

1. An audience that have expressed interest in a niche topic
2. A relationship with that audience (some of which can be transferred to the new host/owner if you play things right)
3. A community (the relationships that exist amongst your audience/users)
4. A back catalog of content
5. Established traffic sources in the form of search engine ranking, inbound links, etc.
6. A recognized brand name (a known source of quality information/entertainment)

Digg MissionaryTalks.com

Digg has a new area where you can browse podcasts. Unfortunately you have to be a digg member to see it right now. But, eventually it may be open to the public. On that site you can “digg” Missionary Talks. With just 12 more diggs I can be promoted to the front page of “Religious” podcasts.

If you are digg member, would you consider digging the podcast? Thanks!

Current podcasts

Because I am desperate to get new listeners for my podcast, I thought I would mention the ones that I am currently subscribed to to help boost their numbers as well. This in turn may get someone to mention me on their blog and generate new listeners. Gimmick? Yes, but hey, it can’t hurt.

My podcast by the way is Missionary Talks.

Look through these, you may find something that you would like to hear. For the podcasters listed here…please don’t podfade on me. If you are not going to continue with the podcast, let us know. One of my favorites was Old Time Radio Podcast (listed below). I hold out hope that it will come back, therefore I keep subscribing. I am sure there are podcasters who have built quite an audience and have seemingly walked away. A shame.

If you have specific questions about a podcast, leave a comment and I will answer the best I can. Sometimes it is good to get an outside opinion on a podcast. I would gladly provide my thoughts, but I don’t want to do a review of every one of them.

Some of these I have commented about before. Here I just plan to list them with their web address for the link. No specific order.

Miscellaneous:

If anyone wants to link back to my podcast, go right ahead. I have averaged 37 listeners per show for the first 4 shows. The newest episode has just been out 2 days, so that number will go up. I am not disappointed with my numbers, I just want to see them skyrocket as quickly as possible. Of course, it is about having the right listeners. My show is kinda niche, but the more that hear it, the more exposure I have to getting the right people.

Thanks for sticking with me through this.
