1000 miles in 2007

Not for me. I know that Adam at Burning 20 is going for the 1000 mile mark. I might get there, but I have finally come to a conclusion that that is not a goal for me. I had mentioned earlier that I wanted to set a goal for my running in 2007, but I had not come to a decision on it yet.

I have decided that I will have as a mileage goal 750 miles. I ran just under 600 last year (my first year as a runner). I also want to work on my 5K time. I currently have a PR of 26:50. Realistic goal is 24:00, but I would like to get down to 22:00 by the end of the year. I also plan to run 2 half marathons for a PR (though probably not in an organized road race). Finally, I would like to do a 20 mile long run at least once during the year. It is likely that I will run close to the 1000 mile mark this year, but my focus will be the distance goals and 5K speed.

There! I have set my running goals finally. Now I just need to get out and run.

  1. Sadly, you are doing far better than I am at the moment. I have not been able to run for over a week. I get to hit the road again tomorrow. I only have 12+ miles under my shoes so far this year. Certainly a deficit that I can easily make up. I should be able to match that with the running I plan to do this week.

    Keep cranking out the miles.
