A choir sings alone (in theory), not necessarily anything to do with worship, while a praise team leads the congregation in their worship. Neither are bad...just different. Also, I wouldn't work up too much of a sweat trying to judge the hearts of those leading worship. God is handling all that. You just need to worship. Otherwise, it's just too much stress. Judging is hard work and very distracting, and, oh by the way...not our job. Praise God!

i don't think it is a bad thing.
My church has a choir and a praise team.
we are a small church so the organist said get a praise team together for rainy or snowy days.
maybe there isn't enough people in the church for a choir or who can sing.
